How Conner Trails Began: Frostie and Sam

Every rescue has a story. Ours started with two horses who needed someone to take a chance on them.

Frostie

Conner Trails began with Frostie, a five-year-old stallion his first owners didn't want. When he came to us he was skin and bones, with an open, infected wound covering almost his whole neck. He came home for the cost of a vet bill.

It took Frostie more than a year and a half to recover, and to learn that not all people were bad. Along the way he taught our kids, and many others, how to love something other than themselves.

Sam

Then came Sam. He didn't have a name, just auction number 287. He seemed quiet at first, until he came home and went through withdrawal from the drugs that had been used to keep him in line. For a while we didn't know if he would make it, but he was tough.

Sam didn't trust people, and he had every reason not to. Within a couple of years he started to believe in people again. He's just more selective about it.

Why it matters

Horses like Frostie and Sam are why Conner Trails exists: a place where rescue horses get a second chance, and people get to learn from them. You can read more on our Our Mission page.
